Is Your Resume Ready for your job search?

Have you modernized your resume, yet?  The current job market demands an up-to-date resume. It's important to use a modern font and incorporate keywords that describe your unique skills and experience.

Perhaps you'd like to add a fun touch like a QR code that directs the reader to your Linked In profile or website.  This is a great way for older workers, in particular, to demonstrate that they are tech-savvy.

You will also want to have a version of your resume that can be opened on any computer operating system and scanned into online applications or applicant tracking software (ATS) without altering the format and making the resume difficult to read.

These are the types of things a professional resume writer can do for you.  Maybe it's time to spring for the cost of a professional.  Research shows that you will be hired months sooner, thus quickly recouping the cost of a good career coach and resume writer.

We are accustomed to paying for other professional services such as a realtor, plumber, doctor or lawyer.  We do this because these professionals work in the field every day and have specialized knowledge.  It's the same with career coaching professionals.  We do our homework to stay current so you don't have to.  Call today for your free consultation and let's get you on your way!

Passion Exercise

Think about the last time you had a peak experience doing paid or volunteer work.  Search your memory for an event where you felt like you were in the flow and you lost track of time because you were so immersed in the task at hand.  You were working, but it didn't feel like work.  Write down the things that stand out in your mind about this event or activity.  What were you doing?  Where were you?  Who were you working with?  Record anything you can remember, without editing the content.  Then, put this away to review at a later date.  After a few days have passed, take out the description you have written and pay attention to how you feel while reading it.  Jot down all of the feelings that come up for you at the bottom of the page.  Close your eyes and reflect upon the difference between how this job description makes you feel and how you feel while performing your usual work tasks. This exercise will help you learn more about your true purpose and is an important step on the path toward figuring out where you want to head with your life.
